How to Care for… Miniature Pigs?

Hey everyone! I’m back with my next post in the farm frenzy series! This one’s about 7944519another urban farming trend... micro pigs! Who would have guessed these porkers would be moving from the barn to your home? Anyways, let us get into it!

Housing:

  • They need plenty of room to roam, so they will need to be free to roam your house – however, don’t let the roam when no one is home! They are said to be even more intelligent than dogs, so section off a part of your house for your pink friend that is pig proof and has many fun toys, food, water, and bedding – you can even crate – train your pig
  • They also need plenty of supervised outdoor time to root naturally and get plenty of fresh air
  • Don’t forget to play with your piggy

Food and Water:

  • Your piggy friend will need special miniature pig feed and plenty of nutritious table scraps – don’t overdue it, however!

That is about it! Make sure you ask your veterinarian about which vaccines they need and make sure to get them spayed or neutered. Also, do plenty of additional research, such as the local regulations on keeping a pig in your house, and make sure you have seen the parents of your pig to make sure you don’t purchase a big potbelly pig you can’t handle! Not all pigs stay small.
